SustainU Brochure

SustainU is an American clothing company that produces high performance apparel using fabrics made in the USA from 100% recycled materials to provide extraordinary comfort and wear, while reducing environmental waste, carbon emissions and water use. As a small start-up they are focusing on t-shirts but have big ideas, so they needed a brochure that would speak for their company and get them to that next level.

For this brochure I immediately thought of using a model wearing a t-shirt with an illustration of the well-known three-arrowed recycling symbol around her. I think that that image combined with their slogan (Sustain our World. Sustain our Country. SustainU.) would make a great impact and get the viewer excited to learn more. In the early stages, I also added a swinger fold around the model’s arm (see first large image above on the right) to add more depth and layers, but this idea was dismissed because of budget issues (because die-cuts are expensive!).

The inside tells SustainU’s story, about how far the fabric actually travels before it reaches the stands. I used an illustration of the world and lines of travel to push the idea of the difference in travel between SustainU’s fabric and most other apparel companies.
